Jungmee Kim (music director, pianist, & vocal coach) is a native of Seoul, Korea and holds degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, Northeastern University, and Harvard University. She has served as the music director of SF Parlor Opera in the productions of Marriage of Figaro, Così fan tutte, and Thaïs.
Jungmee has performed extensively in the greater Boston area for many years before moving to the Bay Area in 2007 as a solo pianist, collaborative pianist, organist, and percussionist. She has performed and/or collaborated with Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Harvard University Wind Ensemble, Boston Opera Collaborative, Northeastern University Orchestra, Prism Opera, New England Conservatory Light Opera Company, Harvard Business School Music Series, Longy School of Music, NU-FAX, Notre Dame de Namur University, Bay Area Wind Symphony, San Francisco Parlor Opera, Stanford University Orchestra, Bay Area Classical Harmonies, Palo Alto Philharmonic Orchestra, Palo Alto Children's Theatre, and Oakland Opera Theatre. Also, Jungmee has premiered numerous compositions by New England based composers.
Jungmee was named the 2003-2004 Gideon Klein Scholar for her study of Viktor Ullmann in Teresienstadt Camp during the Holocaust, was invited to has perform in the Fusion Arts Concert at the U.N. World Headquarters in Paris, France, funded by the US Department of Education in 2007, and was the recipient of Concord Pavilion Performing Arts Scholarship, Nellie Francis Scholarship, Northern California Performing Arts Society Beethoven Sonata Competition winner, and California Music Educators Association Piano Division 1st place winner.
Piano studies with Irma Vallecillo, Terry Decima, Tanya Blaich, Marina Magazinnik, and Virginia Cockrell. Vocal coaching studies with Susan Larson, John Moriarty, and John Greer.
